Cyrus Chestnut is an American jazz pianist from Baltimore, Maryland, raised in a gospel-playing church family. His style blends gospel, classical training, and straight-ahead jazz into soulful, virtuosic playing. He studied at Peabody and earned a Berklee jazz degree in 1985, later working with Betty Carter and Wynton Marsalis. Performances range from intimate jazz clubs to classical ensembles including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
