Chet Noll

Chet Noll is a woodworker and engineer who builds harpsichords. He spent 45 years on an English double manual harpsichord, begun in 1980 and finished in 2025, a quasi-replica of a 1770 London instrument by Joseph Kirckman. The build took some 1,500 hours and produced a poplar case veneered in walnut with satinwood and sapele trim, a quarter sawn Sitka spruce soundboard and handmade brass hinges.
