Cake is a rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1991 by singer John McCrea and trumpeter Vince DiFiore. Its sound pairs prominent trumpet lines and a vibraslap with McCrea's deadpan, sardonic vocals, drawing on country, mariachi, funk and hip hop. The platinum album "Fashion Nugget" (1996) brought the hit "The Distance", and "Showroom of Compassion" (2011) debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
