Benny Green

Benny Green is an American hard bop jazz pianist born in New York City in 1963 and raised in Berkeley, California. He draws on bebop, post-bop, and swing through study with Walter Bishop Jr., Oscar Peterson, and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Oscar Peterson named him protégé in 1992, and they recorded "Oscar and Benny." Solo piano sets highlight the freedom he calls the ultimate inspiration for his playing.
