Ayana Contreras is a Chicago cultural historian, archivist, and radio DJ. Her sets draw on soul, R&B, and Chicago Black music, played exclusively from her vinyl collection. She hosts Reclaimed Soul on WBEZ and Vocalo, and published "Energy Never Dies: Afro-Optimism and Creativity in Chicago" in 2021. Her club appearances are extended all-vinyl sets spanning classic soul and R&B.
