Avery Sharpe is an American jazz bassist and educator, born in Valdosta, Georgia, who plays both double bass and electric bass. His style is known for a percussive, rhythmic approach. From 1980 to 2003 he worked with pianist McCoy Tyner, recording more than 20 albums together, and as a leader he released "Unspoken Words" (1988) and "400: An African American Musical Portrait" (2019).
