Augustana is an American rock band led by vocalist and songwriter Dan Layus, formed in 2002 and originally from southern Illinois. Their melodic indie rock centers on piano-led hooks and earnest, autobiographical songwriting. The 2005 debut All the Stars and Boulevards spawned the hit "Boston" and reached the Billboard Top 200. Layus often stages intimate solo performances, playing landmark albums in full from start to finish.
