Akua is a Ghanaian American techno DJ rooted in North American machine funk who now works from Berlin. Her sets archive and activate raw, mechanized strains of Detroit, Chicago, and New York club history. She rose through New York's underground before relocating to Germany. Live, she is known for high BPM sets that reconnect dancefloors to techno's rebellious early velocity.
