Open House Conspiracy 15 Year Anniversary with Vick Lavender, Brad Ashwell, Austen van der Blee

By any measure, 15 years is a milestone and we are grateful for a decade and a half of support for dedicated dance music lovers acros our state. The bulk of those have been in St. Pete. Over the years we have celebrated our 5, 7, and 10 year anniversary's with Roy Davis Jr., François K, and Timmy Regisford, respectively. For this special occassion, we are welcoming a longtime musical inspiration for our event and resident DJs, the prolific Chicago producer and DJ Vick Lavender. Co-founders Brad Ashwell and Austen van der Bleek will round out the night, getting the room just right for our distinguished guest. This will be an eye-opening journey into the furthermost realms of deep and soulful house.

Vick Lavender is the founder of Sophisticado Recordings Chicago and also is the co-owner of Bridgeport Record store Chicago.

As a producer / DJ, Vick has been a global music aficionado for over 30 years and continues to elevate the genre of deep and soulful house music by creating unique landscapes and rhythms representing world music, jazz fusion, R&B, and various other musical styles. His mastery of these unique sounds gives his music the ability to call to ancestral spirit and permeate the soul of its listener.

In the mid 90's Vick was a part of Glenn Underground's Strictly Jaz Unit along with Boo Williams. Creating his very first release on Defender Records "Medone's Thought" would be the beginning of a sound that would grow and morph into what Vick is known for today.
After parting ways with Strictly Jaz Unit. Vick and Jerry McCalister formed the live deep house band Mr A.L.I ( African Latin Influences ) and from 1998 to 2006 recorded such dope jams as "Missing You," "Midnight Interlude," and "Cast Your Spell," the latter two both featuring Carla Prather, which was later released on the Legendary West End Records.
In 2006 Vick Lavender founded Sophisticado Records, his releases catching him the ear of and bringing him into contact with NYC legend Joaquin Joe Claussell. Claussell would then start releasing Sophisticado Recordings on vinyl. Such tracks as 1.4.4.5, G.I.R.L, and Deep Excape's "After The Rain" were all distributed by Sacred Rhythm Music, introducing Vick's unique sound to a whole new audience. His music has been championed by some of the game's heavyweights including Louie Vega, Ron Trent, and Kai Alce, to name a few.
Vick has also released music on such labels as Love Slap Records, Mister Bear Records, Vision Records, Cataleya Music, Forbidden Dance, and Local Talk Records.

His DJing has taken him to such places as South Africa, where he has a loyal following, as well as Toronto, across the UK, Tbiisi Georgia, Italy, and NYC.
