Silk & Soul

Silk and Soul began in San Francisco in 1976, first performing at Lowell High School’s Senior Show. The band became one of the city’s popular late-’70s soul and R&B groups and performed throughout the Bay Area for the next five years. Although it started largely with Lowell students, the lineup eventually included musicians from Lowell, Washington, Sacred Heart, Riordan, McAteer and USF. Their music grew out of a shared love for classic funk and soul artists including Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Ohio Players, Kool & the Gang and Average White Band.
