Might Be Magic presents: Maurice Fulton + Lucia Beyond + Neptune (AFTERS)

Baltimore-born Maurice Fulton is a man of few words who lets the music do the talking. He started out playing organ in church and drums in high school, then spent his early teens DJing hip-hop as Dr. Scratch before moving into house and garage residencies across the US. That foundation led him to The Basement Boys and Ultra Naté, and to his most famous work on Crystal Waters' "Gypsy Woman," one of the defining house records of the early '90s.

Through the '90s and beyond he released prolifically on labels like Nuphonic and Warp, later working with Tirk, Kathy Diamond and DFA, and running his own BubbleTease Communications. Some call it weird house, others arty disco, but his textured, left-of-center productions are always on the money. Behind the decks, his sets are rooted in the Loft and Paradise Garage classics that built New York's club heritage, often quietly reworked with his own edits and EQ'd for maximum effect on the floor.

Lucía Beyond is a San Antonio-born, Austin-based DJ, producer, songwriter and audio engineer, and the head of Sequence, a local soundsystem and event series. A proficient vinyl DJ working with a hybrid setup, she draws lines between old-school rave, classic and current vocal club music, dub-tinged techno, progressive, jungle and braindance. A longtime closing-set favorite at Club Eternal, she has played beyond Texas too, including a Berlin debut for Suck the Lemon and a mix for Ariel Zetina and Miss Twink USA's Rumors series.

Louisiana-born, Texas-raised multidisciplinary artist Neptune draws from Southern musical roots spanning gospel, jazz, bounce and house. Moving through footwork, juke, techno and club sounds, their sets bring those influences into a wide-ranging approach to the dance floor.
