He left behind just one completed studio album, 1994’s Grace, but his extraordinary voice and fearless musicianship continue to inspire artists and music lovers everywhere. On November 17th, Jeff Buckley would have turned 60. Producer Luke Jackson (The Songs of Nick Drake) writes: “It’s heartbreaking to imagine how much incredible music Jeff would likely have produced in the last 29 years. On what would have been his 60th birthday, we’ll gather to celebrate the songs he left behind. I’ve invited a group of Toronto’s finest musicians (with 12 JUNO nominations among them!) to bring their own voices and interpretations to these remarkable songs. Buckley’s catalogue demands courage, vulnerability and musicianship in equal measure, and I can’t wait to hear what this group of incredibly talented performers does with it. Expect to hear most of Grace, choice cuts from Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk, and a couple of Jeff’s favourite covers, but no Hallelujah. These are going to be magical nights of music.
