This October, Wrecked takes a turn towards the heavy and hard, inviting two of NY’s key techno visionaries to BASEMENT. Julia Govor headlines. An artist whose work straddles worlds, Govor’s work tightens the screws on seismic, large-scale techno, bringing a searing intensity and razor-sharp underground sensibility to the global stage. This year’s “Riders on the Roof,” JUJUKA, is a standout of cerebral, driving techno that’s completely in its own lane. Concrete Husband is a similarly multifaceted talent. Balancing jackhammer techno with delicate, intimate modern composition, Concrete Husband’s work is rooted in the pure physicality of sound. If his avant garde side envelops the listener with tenderness, his DJ sets are exercises in pure, unalloyed dominance. Ron Like Hell returns to the room to lay it all out, channeling their signature psychedelia into one of their infamous techno sets.
T.Wan has become a Wrecked regular. As a co-founder of Antidote, T.Wan has helped advance a forward-thinking vision of raving in the NY underground. Her sets are marked by a deliriously free-form, pan-genre approach; bass music, house, global sounds, classic rave and more integrate seamlessly, bound together by a sense of spontaneity and adventure that’s infectious. She lands after a run of festival appearances, including sets at Honcho, System Activate and Zap. Get ready to jack: S4M23 is back. Though now based in New York, S4M23 has put in time in Chicago, and it shows. Her love of crisp, cracking drums and twisting acid lines permeates everything she does. A force both behind the decks and behind the scenes, S4M23 has been shaping the next chapter for New York. Ryan Smith resumes his post in STUDIO, diving into the deep end. Smith is a standard bearer for countless DJs, with a sublime, expansive touch that breathes life into every mix.
