About the concert
Jay Tripwire has never treated a record as a finished object. For more than three decades, he has used them as raw material—layering, stretching and rearranging their meaning in the mix.
Coming out of Vancouver’s 1990s club culture, Tripwire developed a strain of house and techno designed with the DJ set in mind: long blends, elastic grooves and nasty basslines. Across more than 400 releases—and under names including Jay Tripwire and Mr. Barcode—his work has remained attached to the practical business of moving a room.
Our monthly party POWER HAÜS is built around the open-to-close set, where selection is only part of the job. The larger task is managing time: deciding when to introduce tension, when to let repetition do its strange work and when, finally, to stop being polite. This is your masterclass.
On Saturday, September 12, Jay Tripwire gets four hours to make his case.
