About the concert

Haley Kean - Passive Forms December 5, 2026 - December 23 , 2026 Art Walk and Artist reception: Saturday, December 5, 4-7pm Exhibition Statement: In Passive Forms , I explore the relationship between my hometown of Newtown CT, and the abandoned institution of Fairfield Hills. Drawing inspiration from Hokusai’s 36 Views of Mount Fuji Series, I created this body of work to illuminate the location that the people of Newtown live their daily lives around. The campus has been collectively reimagined as an active participant in the social ecology of Newtown; It has become a wayfinding device, a projection of self and community. In my work, I interpret space within Fairfield Hills, while emulating the visceral atmosphere of a place with layered identity. I do so through scale and detail within the etchings, juxtaposed with the spontaneous materiality of the plaster-casting process. I focus the project with large scale drawings that become abstracted vignettes of place and time on the site of Fairfield Hills. Bio: Haley Kean is an artist based in Northampton, MA. They received their MFA in Printmaking from Ohio University, and BFA in Studio Art from Keene State College. Kean works with space, and narrative tools to visually interpret the radical compassion of the human experience, attachment, and grief.
