FRIDAY 9/25
TRANSMISSION PRESENTS: GYROFIELD & CARRIER
11PM - 3AM | AGES 21+ | FLOOR 1
GYROFIELD: Hong Kong native gyrofield is becoming a distinctive force on the global club circuit, with widespread praise accelerating their growing influence within dance music. Since discovering electronic music via online communities as a teenager, gyrofield has followed curiosity and inspiration into disparate musical territory, exploring the realms of drum and bass, techno, ambient, pop and free jazz, bending recognized genres into bold new forms. Fueled by an unrelenting drive to push boundaries, their digital productions become moody and introspective through IDM experimentation, jungle breakbeats, melodic synths and chopped vocal samples – as showcased on recent releases with XL and FABRICLIVE.
CARRIER: Carrier is Guy Brewer’s outlet for pressure, space, and restraint, a project that privileges atmosphere over genre rules. The catalogue moves between implied rhythm, degraded texture, and carefully eroded atmospheres, developing a language defined as much by absence as by presence. This sensibility reaches a new scale on Brewer’s first full-length as Carrier, Rhythm Immortal. Across the album, fractured syncopations intertwine with weightless ambience, expanding the project’s contours into something both elegant and raw. It shifts between hypnagogic drift and knife-edge rhythmic tension, a definitive statement that anchors Carrier’s evolving sound. Taken together, the works under the Carrier name outline a precise, atmospheric practice: lean on the surface, heavy underneath, always edging forward while resisting the pull of easy resolution.
For more than ten years - after packing up their bags to leave their hometown of New York City for a new life in Washington, D.C., - Tara Algios (a.k.a the DJ and producer JETT) has cemented themselves as one of the hardest working artists in the city's competitive, ever-evolving scene. As a DJ and producer, Algios found a home in DC, where they helped organize some of the most forward-thinking events in the region, and shared the decks with some of the industry's most skilled selectors. Always looking to push boundaries, they are also a resident DJ at a roaming club night in D.C, the experimental bass-driven allnighter L.E.N.G., co-founder of a multimedia art & music focused, inclusive event called VIBRATE, and ½ of the D.C. based streaming show lava.radio. An artist, producer, DJ, promoter, community builder, this underground veteran - and staple - provides a raw and impactful perspective toward dance music, focusing on benefiting the community at large
