CitySpace Presents: Strings of Soul

Strings of Soul, October 25 at 7pm Carol’s Jazz Night x CitySpace Presents Strings of Soul is an innovative ensemble that brings together the rich traditions of Indian classical music with contemporary jazz improvisation and global rhythms. The quintet features: Kunal Gunjal (Santoor),  GLOBAL MUSIC AWARD  winning artiste and featured on  Oscar winning Film scores.   Disciple of the world renowned  Santoor Legend Late. Pt. Shivkumar Sharma .      Steve Hunt (Piano), worked  with  several renowned jazz artists such as Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke, Angela Bofill, Tom Brown, and Allan Holdsworth .              Amit Kavthekar (Tabla ), worked with notable Indian classical musicians like  Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Jazz and Classical artists like Sharon Isbin and Al Di Meola        Fabio Pirozzolo (Percussions) Tony Leva (Upright Bass)  The Santoor—a rare, expressive hammered dulcimer from India—serves as the melodic centerpiece of the ensemble, engaging in dynamic conversation with piano, tabla, and percussion.  Rather than presenting a traditional world music program,  Strings of Soul  creates an original musical language where jazz harmony, spontaneous improvisation, intricate rhythmic interplay, and Indian melodic traditions meet naturally.
