Big Danger Wow! - Early Show

Big Danger Wow! is a Seattle rocksteady and early reggae band with deep roots in the Northwest music scene. Rick Dybvad, a founding member of Seattle's Easy Big Fella, sings lead and plays guitar. On bass and backing vocals is Dave Trump, whose credits include Natalie Wouldn't, Edmund Wayne and The Bern Band. Shawn Brockman plays saxophone and flute and sings vocal harmonies, and has played with Natalie Wouldn't, Easy Big Fella, The Diablotones and Hi-Line Lanes. Rounding out the band is Liam O'Connor on drums and backing vocals, with credits including River Giant, the Crucialites and Edmund Wayne. Their songbook lives mostly in Jamaica between 1967 and 1969—the brief, remarkable stretch when rocksteady was giving way to early reggae. Carlton and the Shoes are a particular favorite, along with plenty of lesser-known music from the period. The band is not chasing note-for-note reproduction — but brings their own sound and personalities to these songs while keeping the rhythms, harmonies and character intact.
