Asteria Atombomb - Get the Point Across

All workshops will be held at BodyVox, 1201 NW 17th Ave, Portland, OR 97209 Saturday, November 14 11am-12:30pm Asteria Atombomb - Get the Point Across Are you stuck doing the same repetitive movements onstage? Trying to tell a story but can't find the actions to fit the narrative? Then this workshop is for you! Asteria will use her decades of dance, theater, and artistic direction experience to help you navigate the creation of a compelling act. Through a series of dance and improvisational exercises, attendees will explore various ways to incorporate movement into compelling storyline. Walk away feeling confident in getting your point across on the stage and leaving audiences wowed! What to bring: Journal and writing utensils. Clothes that are easy to move in. All levels welcome!  Asteria has been a movement educator for 20 years and has made it her mission to make dance and aerial accessible for all bodies. After receiving her dance degree from Northwestern Michigan College in a modern dance concentration, she took her skills around the globe where she worked in performing arts schools and dinner theaters across Australia and New Zealand. There she found her love of burlesque in addition to her other loves such as contemporary, jazz, hip hop, heels, and tap.  When she came back to the states, Asteria ended up in Portland and has made it their home. They continue to coach dance and pole around Portland, as well as performing around venues in the PNW. Asteria manages the BodyVox Dance Center, a world premier dance center housing 700 students per week and 71 classes. In addition to her day job, Asteria also freelances and sets her own choreographic works throughout the Portland Metro Area.
