rockalternative rock
Violent Femmes are an alternative rock band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, fronted by singer and guitarist Gordon Gano with bassist Brian Ritchie. Their minimalist folk punk was part of the underground alternative rock scene of the 1980s. The 1983 debut "Violent Femmes," home to "Blister in the Sun" and "Add It Up," went platinum. Live, they are joined by the Horns of Dilemma, a freeform backing ensemble.
