Tune-Yards is the experimental art-pop project of Merrill Garbus, started in 2006 and based in Oakland, California, with bassist Nate Brenner. Its sound is built from loop pedals, ukulele, layered vocals and lo-fi percussion. "Whokill" (2011) topped The Village Voice's Pazz and Jop critics' poll, followed by "Nikki Nack" (2014), "Sketchy" (2021) and "Better Dreaming" (2025).
