The Mountain Goats
rockalternative rock
The Mountain Goats are an American indie folk band formed in 1991 in Claremont, California, around singer-songwriter John Darnielle. Early releases were lo-fi boombox recordings, and the lyrics moved from mythological song cycles to autobiographical writing about addiction and childhood trauma. "Tallahassee" (2002) was the first album made with a full band, followed by "The Sunset Tree" (2005).
