Son Volt

rockalternative rock

Son Volt is an American alt-country band formed in 1994 in Belleville, Illinois by Jay Farrar after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. The songs move between quiet folk ballads and heartland rock, often addressing America's forgotten past. The debut "Trace" (1995) is regarded as a landmark of the genre, and Farrar assembled a new lineup in 2004 after a hiatus, releasing "Union" (2019) and "Electro Melodier" (2021).
