Rising Appalachia

Rising Appalachia is an American folk group led by sisters Leah and Chloe Smith, rooted in Atlanta, New Orleans, and the southern Appalachians. Their sound blends honey-hued vocal harmonies with banjo, fiddle, and global percussion across folk, soul, and world traditions. Independent since 2005, they crowd-funded albums including "Filthy Dirty South" (2012) and "Leylines." Live shows are communal gatherings built around earth connection, activism, and the old songs that carry us through.
