Murphy is the stage name of Philip Murphy, a Baltimore-born singer-songwriter known for folk, soul, and rock rooted in street performance. He traveled the United States busking from New Orleans to Seattle before auditioning for American Idol in 2021. His original song "The Painted Man" made him a fan favorite, earning a return appearance on the season finale. Shows blend distinctive vocals with songs shaped by a life spent playing for passersby across America.
