Mike Stern

Mike Stern is an American jazz fusion guitarist who rose to prominence with Miles Davis in the early 1980s before launching his solo career in 1985. His playing blends Jim Hall lyricism, Wes Montgomery swing, and Jimi Hendrix's overdriven edge across fusion and blues-influenced improvisation. He has released 18 leader albums, with six Grammy nominations, including the 2017 album Trip and the Jeff Lorber collaboration Eleven. His live performances draw on decades of sideman work with Davis, Jaco Pastorius, and the Brecker Brothers.
