Javon Jackson is an American jazz tenor saxophonist from Carthage, Missouri, who rose to prominence in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in the late 1980s. His warm, soulful sound bridges hard-swinging post-bop and funky soul-jazz. He leads the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford and has recorded albums including "Me and Mr. Jones" (1991) and "Jackson Plays Dylan" (2026). His concerts often center on repertoire projects with his working quartet.
