Fruit Bats is the American indie folk project of singer and songwriter Eric D. Johnson, formed in Chicago in 1997. The music blends folk rock and alternative country with influences Johnson traces to 1970s and 1980s Top 40 radio. Albums include "Mouthfuls" (2003), "The Ruminant Band" (2009) and "The Landfill" (2026), released on Sub Pop and later Merge Records.
