Black Uhuru
reggae
Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae band formed in Kingston in the early 1970s by Derrick "Duckie" Simpson. Rooted in the Waterhouse district, they helped shape digital reggae with layered harmonies and heavy dub-driven rhythms. They won the first Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording for "Anthem" (1984). Led by Simpson for more than 50 years, they remain among the genre's most prolific touring acts.
