3 the Hardway is a Detroit proto-punk and riot grrrl trio led by drummer-vocalist Bustin Brooklyn with guitarist Sloppy Joel. Their sound draws on 1970s New York and Detroit punk, from Iggy and the Stooges to Babes in Toyland and L7, for abrasive, sexually charged rock. They released the "Cost of Living" EP on cassette and vinyl in 2023 and the album "HWUAH" in 2024. Live sets aim to sonically confront audiences with sludge, melody, and unpolished intensity.
